diff lock

hi,
looking into a 2002 cruiser. currently have a 98. i am noticing that there is no diff lock on the models i have looked at. is this a rare option? thanks.

Diff lock was an option on the 98-99 USA-spec LC, discontinued here in '00. It's still available as an option overseas.

In 2000, Toyota replaced it with TRAC (traction control) and some other electronic aids. Actually, with the later trucks you can have the best of both worlds, the smart electronics to keep you safer on-road and cause less drivetrain stress off, plus you can always add ARB air lockers if you really think you need a locker (or two) at your convenience. IMHO it is worth it to get the later year truck.
