TJDIV, BUY IT, $700 for a Cummins with a tranny and 44k is amazing :o , I was looking for diesels engines a while back and the cheapest used diesels I found were the POS 6.2 GM diesels for 750 - $1000. Most of the Cummins six cylinders I found were going for at least $1500+ for the engine alone. There was an excellent article in the May/June 2003 issue of Toyota Trails on deisel conversion options, very thorough. The September/October 2002 Toyota Trails had a great article on installing a 6 cylinder Mitsubishi diesel into a FJ55. Both of these articles seemed to suggest that a diesel swap is significantly more complex than a V8 gasser swap, but this is probably due to the fact that there aren't many (if any) conversion kits out there to convert a diesel into a Cruiser, a lot of the adapters need to be fabbed. All that said, a diesel 45 wagon would be insanely cool :D , I say go for it.

OK, 99 would be a 24 vavle engine and a vp44 injection pump.

Price is excellent, injection pump alone is about worth that price.

Problem is the 24 vavle engine uses alot/quite a bit of electronics, make
sure you can get all wiring harness, computer, etc....
IF you can also get the rad, intercooler, hoses, lines, etc... much as you can.
motormounts also.
While not a huge problem, the electronics just makes the conversion a bit more difficult then if it was a 12 vavle motor.

24 vavle is harder, and more costly to turn up the power on vs the earlier engines.

99 came with a 5 speed with a 6 speed optional, 5 speed is a nv4500, 6 speed nv5600 and it is a long mo fo. the nv4500 can mate to a np205(dodge version) with very very little work, this also move the front output back the the passenger side.

Auto is a probably a 47re, not bad could always use a bit of a upgrade to help it out.

Problem with all of this is, all 94 newer dodge transfercases front out is drivers side. YUCK.

BTW 1 tons are pretty much the only axles to run, serious beefing of other items highly worth while.

THere is a 6bt in a 40, but it was a 92 cummins engine, was running around on pirate, and has a small writeup and dieselcruiserheads website.

IMO cruiser case and 6bt dont go together at all, huge gernade! STOCK my 93 is rated at 160 hp and 400 lbft. all later models 94-98.5 12 vavle with the inline/p pump are rated higher in power, more and easier/cheaper to turn up, swap, find parts for, etc... more desirable also.

Stock dodge transfercases are the 241 hd, np205 in 93 and earlier (driverside output), these are not weak transfercases at all.

nv4500 bolts to a 93 and earlier np205 from a getrag trans, with only minor work, (like a seal i think).

6at was suppose to be a expensive, overweight, no power, POS, from most i talked to. most went with bt stuff and said it was a night and day difference.

nv4500 bolts to a chevy version np205 with change of the to a chevy output shaft. ALso can bolt to other chevy trans.

Weight 1000lbs for the 6bt.
