the h engine in my troopie started to leak diesel. i don't know much about these engines or systems but from what i can tell, it's the plunger on the primer pump that's leaking. are these rebuildable? anybody done the repair beofre. any pointers would be greatly appreciated cause i have to bring this rig to the "45 run" in a month.

i guess the best thing to do might be to locate the closest diesel repair place which sjhould'nt be too hard and take the troopie there so they can try to get me the right part. if that fails, i'll call marv.

Or pull it and look for a part #.

I bet as others see this someone will know the part # for the 2H. It may be in that host of threads in the search. Sorry can't help with the part #, I've got a 3B.

Happy to help. There's always the search but for those of us who spend a lot of time on this board it may occur to us more readily how common this is and what terms to use in the search. Took me all of 2 seconds while sitting here watching the ballgame.

well, i called toyota with the part # and they could'nt help me. so a friend of mine suggested i call TMH (toyota material handling) and they were able to get it for me. could'nt find one in the USA so they got one with a stock order from japan. cost me just over $70 shipped to my place after they received it. when i got it i was a little skeptical cince the main body of the new one is cast aluminum and it uses a plastic plunger. i took off the old primer and the important dimensions and threads looked the same. it screwed right in place of the old one much to my relief. then i re-installed the battery tray mount, the battery tray, brake line heat shield and the battery. hit the glow plug starter, cranked it over and it fired right up. no hesitation, no leak. problem solved.

thanks again for all the help guys. gotta love the mud board!

looking forward to cruising the troopie around on the trail at the "fj45 run" in a few weeks.:)

yup, and they have 5 locations in norcal:

hayward
west sacramento
salinas
fresno
rhonert park

i did'nt want to drive to either of them and was told that mike in hayward was the man to deal with. i called him with the old part number, which he was able to cross refference. he then ordered the updated part number and did'nt even ask for a deposit. called me when they got it, took my cc# over the phone and sent it out the same day, even though it was 4pm. i had it in my hand the very next day. you really can't beat that!
