Wanted diesel cruiser

i need a running diesel cruiser
can be rusted/wrecked/rolled/what ever. just needs a solid drive train

pics and proof that it runs necessary because this will be bought sight unseen. (proof that it runs would be a short video of you cranking it and letting it idle for a minute and a look at what color the exhaust smoke is.)

looking forward to seeing what you have

my budget is limited 3k at the most, i want the drivetrain to go into a fj40 so id rather have a turbo 4cyl but for the right price id get a 6

iv been trying to research motors but it almost seems like im reading the same debate gas guys have about 2f vs vortex swap vs 350 ect...

i believe i could be happy with a 13b-t
what ever it is just needs to have a 5spd

They are beginning to be 25 years old so you can import them.

I don't believe the 25 year rule applies to vehicles originally sold in Canada...... (90% sure), same as we can bring in most new vehicles from the states...

I doubt $3000 is going to get you near a decent 13BT, but a 3B, 5-speed and a DIY turbo might fit.

The Prados had an underpowered engine for the vehicle, creating a tendancy to overheat and crack cylinder heads. The L engines in the Prados are not nearly as robust as the B or H series engines.

I have a 1990 LJ78 (Prado) located in Southern Georgia and I do agree that the 2L-TE is not enough engine for the relatively heavy LJ78 ( an 8 passenger Land Cruiser) however I have had no mechanical issues to date. It may or may not be as robust as a 3B or 13-BT but it can deliver years of reliable service if it is maintained well. Like most turbo charged diesels it can be a problem for a 'heavy footed" individual.
