There is a guy from New Zealand that often auctions diesel cruisers on EBay with an offer to ship them to the states. Does anyone know anything about that guy? Always wanted a diesel. I’m tempted to place an offer on one of his auctions. If anyone knows anything about this guy, or has any other words of wisdom about buying a diesel cruiser from overseas, please let me know.

Thanks

I went to ebay.com.au and did a search for "Toyota Diesel" Holly ****!!! I knew Austrailia was Landcruiser paradise, but never realized the extent of it! Has anyone purchased a vehicle from a priate individual in Australia and had it shipped to the US? If so, how was the experience?

Toyota Land Cruiser PC 1982 Original Condition - eBay Post-1970, Collector Cars, Cars, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 20-Aug-08 21:50:58 AEST)

It is a couple of hours drive away from the closest major port (Fremantle) so you would probably need to organise them to drop it in Perth/Fremantle for you and get your shipping quote from there.

Tsnake,
I purchased a BJ42 from a private individual, after his ebay winner dragged his feet, all so far has gone very smoothly.
Shipping RO/RO from Port Kembla, AUS via Willenius Willhelmson to Baltimore, MD. Very professional shippers.
Will arrive next month, I'll see if there are any unanticipated suprises

Hope this helps you some

The seller is "chrisman". Glad to hear that someone here knows him and has had a good experience with him. How was the import at the US end? Did you guys use an importer, or can it be easily done without one?

Thanks again for the help.

I didn't use an importer, went just fine. However, my truck was unable to be registered in california - its not clear if using an RI would have helped (probably not), but somthing to think about. Theres a long thread about my import here:

Also while Joe and I are happy with chrisman, note that TOBASH just got his truck and is less so. The issues he reports aren't all that different than those I had, but I guess I didn't mind so much. His brand new thread is here:

I purchased a BJ42 from JDM Wholesale in NZ through Ebay. I had a good experience. So good that I bought a second vehicle through them. (Many other people had bad experiences and JDM Wholesale is no longer in business.)

I have a number of Ebay alerts set up and have been watching the BJ42 that Chrisman is selling. I see the price has dropped $1k over the course of the last few weeks. The reason that it caught my eye is because some of the text that the seller uses is the exact same text that was in the auction I won from JDM Wholesale. It's so similar that I assumed that chrisman and jdmwholsale are one in the same. I have no idea if they are one in the same, just that the auction text looks very similar to me.
