It's actually in Colorado . You say there is a bj60 for sale locally that you know of ? Can you point me in the right direction?:grinpimp:

If this is the one I'm thinking of, the truck was driven to Guatemala, had the conversion done, then driven back.

I don't know about the *quality* of the conversion, but I would strongly question the current owner on the *legality* of the conversion, since to register it as a diesel in CA you're going to have to go through DOT and answer a lot of questions.

Probably selling it because they couldn't get it registered as a diesel in CO. Not surprising...

just wanted to add another common Central American mod to Nicks very accurate list ...

check for a thermostat on the 1HZ .... like Tapage I live in Panama and have seen "mechanics" do it all wrong ... their concept on thermostats is that since our countries are of warm/hot climate all year round they eliminate the thermostat .... yes they ELIMINATE it .... so whenever you head up to the mountains down here or somewhere where the weather drops below say 70 F then your engine is overcooled and combustion sucks, followed by a cloud of unburnt fuel in the form of white smoke ....

this would be a big problem in the states .... although installing a thermostat is relatively cheap and simple, this example just provides an insight on Central American Mechanics

however, this particular job could very well have been done by a qualified mechanic ... there are some very good mechanics in Panama and I'm sure there are good ones in Guatemala .... in fact most Toyota mechanics here recieve training directly from Japan and some are even sent over there

Thanks Guys -

It seems that this truck has a lot of what ifs. I think I will be patient and wait for another to show. I appreciate all the feed back.
