Did I kill my sub channel?

I left the sub speaker out of the 80 for a few weeks and when I went to hook it back up I get no audio out of it. I get sound from all the other channels and I verified that the sub still works by plugging it into another system.

Could I have "fried" the sub channel by letting the wire cross?

I've got an old Alpine amp under the driver's seat. I'm pretty sure it's a 4+1. I can get the model number if that helps...

THANKS!

If the wires were touching each other and the fuse didn't blow, then you may have fried that channel. Check the fuses on the amp as you may have more then one. Also check gain level on amp and if you have an aftermarket deck, check sub out level.

Thanks T-bones for the trouble shooting tips...

So I examined the sub and here's what I found -

- the fuse on the amp is not blown
- the gain on the amp is about 1.2 out of four
- the stock toyota deck bass is normal
- I have a sub "remote" (dial type nob that controls the volume of the sub) and that is turned all the way up

Given that, does it sound like I fried the sub channel? If I did can I get the amp fixed or should I just buy a new one? It's a really small compact amp that fits under the drivers seat so I'm hoping I don't have to replace it...

Thanks!

Doesn't sound good for your amp. Make sure all your line level inputs are connected. Maybe try a diffrent speaker as a test to make sure your sub is ok. Never know, maybe a wire came loose w/ the sub or amp.

I would not pay the $ to have a little car amp fixed. They are pretty cheap to replace these days.
