I while back I purchased some rear swing out doors for my FJ40 - attached to one of the doors were a couple of "Dick Cepek Jerry Can Carriers" (see attached pics).

Has anyone seen these before? I'm going to mount these to my truck and would like any info on the latch mechanism that should be at the top of the carrier/bracket. I haven't been able to find anything - even tried calling Mickey Thompson since they bought Dick Cepek but they didn't have any info. I'm sure I can fab something up but would like to go with the original deal.

Thanks!

can carrier

What you have is the original Blitz gas can carrier. I found mine in Moab at a hardware store for 10.00. I am sure you can make it work. The Conn Ferr unit looks like it is based on this design.

The problem with these of course, is that they only work with the Blitz fuel can, no other military jerry cans, including Scepter MFC, MWC, Wedco, NATO/EURO/Swiss cans will work with this mount.

And Blitz jerry cans suck.

I have a couple of these around. I'll take some pics for you to see what you want to make. It is really basic and should be easy to fab. Essentially, you have a bolt that bends up and a "T" that threads on to it.

I wish I wasn't still in the stone age. I still don't have a camera from which I can post pictures. But the "latch" is a carriage bolt bent at 90 degrees. It goes through the top hole, through one of the the carrying handle tubes of the Jerry Can and sides into the slot. There is a metal strip about an inch wide and 3/16 thick bent into a flat bottom "V" with a threaded hole in the middle that screws onto the bolt. A hole is drilled at each end of the wings and you line up one of those holes with one of the holes by the slot and put a lock through them. Someone must have a picture of the setup out there. Like I said I am still using glass plates and my exposure times are in seconds and minutes. But a ditigal camera is on the list I sent to Santa.

Check out the fuel can article on the Rocket City Rock Crawlers site. It has pictures of your carrier.

I looked at the article, but only saw the Conn-ferr holder. Same principle, but different in design. We need to send The Wizard one of our old used digital cameras so he can post a picture. I have read threads in the past about this subject, and it would be nice to post a pic for all who needs this info.

Got an early Christmas present of a new camera. Took pictures of the gas can carry but I need SIMPLE STEP BY STEP DIRECTION on how to post the pictures. I looked in the help section and it is all Greek to me!

establish a photobucket account (free) then upload the pictures. Under each picture there is a share option and then pick what you want.

What part of simple step by step direction don't people understand. I luck if I can find the on/off switch on my computer. If someone wants pictures they better step me through the process.

Since no one seems interested in helping a computer challenged individual with specific instruction on how to post pictures I will try this on my own. If it don't work knowledge will be lost for lack of simple instruction.
