Detailed ToyBox Install Instructions

I have gained much knowledge over the years about how to repair and modify my Land Cruiser thanks to the folks who hang out on the boards, mailing lists, and document their projects on the Web.

This is my way of giving back. I don't know of a detailed write up anywhere on how to build a Marlin Crawler ToyBox using the stock transmission and transfer case so I decided to write one based on my install. I hope this helps someone out.

That was a great idea to cut the output shaft off to get it out! I tried to make a puller also and it did not work...i ended up going to the local tranny shop and having them pull the bearings for like 30.00 bucks....but i would have cut that sucker if i thought about it!

We made our own puller for that output shaft and after much effort we did this......


Home made puller made outa grade 8 bolts
Applied puller with just about enough force to brake it then stopped
Hit the inner race with a welder tacking it all the way around quickly
Soon as we heard the pop we hit the impact and it slid off easily

Love the welder trick as it just heats the hardened race.

Gott move quick and smoothly as not to let the race quench to the shaft, not all is lost you just have too cool it down and try again.
