I have been given the task of brainstorming 4x4/offroad ideas anywhere in Southern California for a bachelor party later in October. There will be 8-11 guys and the options are pretty open. It will probably end up being a Friday night/Saturday type of deal and a small group of the more adventurous may head out to Vegas on Saturday night. There is a big mix between adrenaline seeking hard-partiers and ultra-tame/conservative church mice so we are looking for an idea that has a little something for everyone. . .

A few ideas I had:
- Take 2-3 trucks out into Anza Borrego for a night. Explore the mud caves, etc. Biggest problem is that people are coming in from all over and we may not have enough suitable vehicles. We will have my FZJ80, but that would leave us renting/borrowing/stealing 1-2 more vehicles.
- Rent dirt bikes/ATVs/buggies or something? Maybe drive out to the Imperial Sand Dunes?
- I know down in Baja you can actually rent pre-runner type trucks for a "racing" experience. Are there any places in CA, AZ or NV that offer some sort of racing deal? Like rally-type cars, trucks, carts, etc. This would probably be a lot of fun, but would probably be pretty pricey as well.
- Head up to Pismo Beach. Definitely a good time, but a bit of a drive. Also, it would eliminate the Vegas option. . .

What would you do? Any suggestions would be very helpful :hhmm:
Thanks!!!

If it were me I would head out to Ocotillo Wells in Anza Borrego. You do not need a 4x4 to get to the camp just off the road and there is a place to rent ATV's and a bar "The Iron Door".

You can also head up Split Mtn road at Ocotillo Wells go a few miles until you hit the railroad tracks, hang a left at the dirt road next to the tracks and drive until you find a good camp site. It's way less crowded there and you can ride ATV's and are close to some fun 4x4 trails.

I second the above suggestion. It's perfect for what you're looking for. From that campsite you can get to the Diablo Drop Off area and a very cool Slot Canyon that you can drive through. Plus you can explore the neat little points of interest in Ocotillo Wells OHV park.
