I have an early FJ got it in April 06. What can I say I was an early adopter, last four on the VIN 4844. I haven’t had any major issues, I had the tire recall so I got a new set at 5000 miles and I had the rattle in the roof rack the dealer fixed as soon as I reported it. I just got a crack in the windshield end of Dec 07, I don’t conceder any of this a big deal. My rig is almost 2 years old now with over 32K and all in all I’m quite pleased with it. :)

Just for reference, I drove a Chevy Astro van for work a few years ago that needed 3 windshields in less than a year, two in 30 days! They just kept cracking. And you almost needed to change a headlight every oil change. Never saw a recall for any of that. :wrench:

If you bought you FJ to Mall Crawl, you may never see any issue other than door dings, but if you bought it to “Boldly Go”… You will probable have occasional issues, as you would with any vehicle used for rough service. If you off road sooner or later the carnage gods strike and if you can’t afford the down time on your rig, better to stay in the parking lot.

The front end of the 100 is less likely to explode than the rear of the FJ. ...

That maybe true, but not in my experience. I have wheeled with tons of FJC's and never seen a diff pop, wheel with only a few 100's and one popped with me standing next to it. In our club and the group that I wheel with there are probably 30+ FJC's and I have only heard of one that has broken in this group. There are less than ten 100's in the group and I have heard of at least 3 that have broken diffs.

In my estimation, among our group, when taken on an average, the FJC guys are more aggressive than the 100 guys. We have run some aggressive and remote trails and I don't ever remember a disabling failure on a FJC. Bent arms, dented body work, skids, etc, yes, but never a failure that slowed one down.

In my observation the FJC is a better wheeler, better angles, more upgrade options, lifts, bumpers, etc. From the easy chair there is plenty of opportunity's to take shots at them, their silly looking, the windows are small, etc, but on the trail they get the job done.

And you've tried to get me to break mine numerous times:bounce: - except up the step where Bluecruiser's 100 popped the diff, thanks for talking me out of that one:cheers:...

As the pictures show tho', the FJC is really good at getting wheels in the air:steer:.

And what's with the silly looking comment? No sillier than a :princess:Lexus on 37" mud terrains.

They have it narrowed to a manufacture date. I'm not worried mine is a 2008 Model. :P

Inner fender bulges have been reported on 08's. Some of the 07's whose inner fenders have been replaced by the "updated" inner fenders have had repeat problems as well. Sorry buddy, you still have many of the same worries us poor '07 owners have...welcome to the club! :o)
