Death Valley Trip - Eureka Dunes, Steel Pass and Saline

Finally getting caught up on some adventures we've taken. The scary part about this all, is that i can't remember for the life of me when we took this trip! Yikes! Think it was back in January around Super Bowl..

Anyhow, we camped out at Eureka Dunes, hiked to the top, drove over Steel (steele) Pass and visited the Warm springs in Saline. Death Valley is always a pleasure.

Great report Dave! This is the exact route I had planned for a March trip but was unable to make it happen. Hopefully I can do it late this year or early next.

Did you hear the Eureka sand dunes sing? Supposedly under the right conditions they will make a low bass or droning noise that is unique to these dunes.

Yes, actually i did hear them. Don't know if it was the exact noise that everyone describes.. but i pushed sand down the slopes and heard some interesting bass.

That's a trip I want to do again. Was there in '06 with the Norcal gang and haven't been back since.
