dealer says I need a new ECU Computer?

Ed,

I can't remember the codes, will have to look at dealer invoice if they wrote them down. Customer service lady did say that the senors, ABS and VSC were checked first and found to be fine in that they were sending signals to the ECU. Then the tech checked the ECU and found it was not sending signals back to the before-mentioned sensors. Their solution, replace the ECU. With me bumping the CDL and hitting that button to reset and the problem occurring immediately thereafter is to coincidental for me to believe it is anything other than what Shotts experienced. I did not experience any of the problems you did, i.e. limp mode.

I suggest you unscrew those 5 screws to get to the ECU and check for signs of water and the plugs. (See post from ZJ2UZJ100 above)
Doesn't take much longer than writing one of these postings, and then we will all be smarter.

I don't know if I'd take advice from someone with only 145 posts ....

and a ... totally built truck. :o

Slinking off to actually accomplish something on my near stock rig.

I dunno, he is from Norway. I'm leaving for ND Friday and won't have time to get at ECU til I return, plan to check for h20 damage, un-plug and re-plug ECU as well. Looking at the dealers invoice they did list the codes. the write up is as follows, verbatim:

customer states that ABS light comes on (as well as VSC TRAC and TRAC OFF, my add). code c0205 left front whell speed sensor malfunction. code c1223 malfunction in abs control system. l/f whell speed sensor ok; abs ecu receiving signal but not returning signal. recommend replace abs ecu. customer advised/declined. advised abs, trac control & skid control inop

And it gets better, had the oil changed while I was there, noticed some leakage on the driveway, climbed underneath with the socket wrench and turned the fill plug almost a complete turn to tighten her up!!!!!!!!!!

I posted this info a long time ago when my tranny ECU was changed.
Dealer looked for leaky windscreen, water in connectors etc, as they said

90% of ECU's that get returned to the factory have nothing wrong with them,

the problem is with faulty switches and connections etc.
