Why did they drain the transmission to do a routine clutch job?

Not sure. Maybe it's a standard part of the job? Mechanics discretion? Car only had 110,000kms on it at the time. Previous owner was not good at driving standard which is why the clutch needed to be done. Transmission was mint when it went into the dealer.
 
You're nuts to even consider a dealership dude. Sometimes you have to learn the hard way, I have.

Take it to one of the known specialists from this board.



NO! don't go there. This is where I learned not to go to any dealer. $600 bill and I still failed aircare - total waste of time and money.

It all depends on which mechanic did the work...
Did you take your diesel there?

But, I agree I would never take my vehicle to a dealer unless I had exhausted every other option!
