For those history buffs or if you are coming from the east and want to get off the beaten path here is another way to Tuttle.

#2 is the Oregon Trail historic site (1.5 miles east of Belvue)
#3 is the wizard of oz museum (LOL)
#4 is another Oregon Trail crossing (Wagon tracks visible) and the world’s largest hand dug well.

Also the stretch of K-99 from I-70 to Wamego and the county road from Westmoreland to K-13 are very scenic (By Kansas standards—Missourians may laugh). Hills, curves, deer, no shoulders—not trailer friendly if you are in a hurry.

anyone been up the shore from the park to fancy creek camp ground? I saw a couple guys do it last summer when the water was up: took them better part of the day with all the mud and driftwood.
Curious if it is an established trail. it would make a nice access to and from the campground.

If you like old railroad towns 24 is worth the trip. I was that way recently and it reminded me just how cool some of these small whistle stops are.

Erik,
Bacon cobbler? Go back and read posts #26,27,28,29,30,31,32. After that please explain to me what I'm really doing, because it's quite clear that I haven't a clue!

Fat boy,
Wanda said 2 or three 1/2 gallon boxes ought to be plenty. When you buy that much ice cream at one time tell the cashier it's for your wife.

Crows,
I have a stove if you need it, I'd just have to get it to you before you go cause I won't be in till sat morn

Degnol Ed,
Are you gonna make it? I'm gonna leave Jaudon at 5:00 AM sat morn if you want to pair up.

If you all want cobbler for friday night I'll cook it if the crows will transport it!

Don and I used to make it a yearly event (although we did miss the raffle at a Molle BBQ one time) until we were advised by park personnel that it wasn't allowed.

We had a fun time getting back to camp and a lot of times it took some ingenuity to get over larger logs and out of soft sand.

To answer your question - please do not consider this a trail as it may jeopardize the Tuttle ORV.

Well,
No wheeling for me this time around.
I am not able to get out of the Blues game on Saturday.

Maybe next time.

Chris

Not very far really - there is an area where those who enjoy mud play around out there, but nothing really exciting beyond that.

Depending on lake levels, I'd be hesistant to take anything full-sized along the shore anyway. The driftwood, coupled with soft sand, make it a tough run - we've had people turn back.

Bad news gang. It looks like I will not be able to make it this weekend afterall. Work deadline that won't go away. Have a good time and enjoy the food:beer:

Work, smirk, not an excuse. You can't telecommute?

I fired up the LX last night and discovered the fan clutch bearing is toast, as in the fan wobbles like a bobble head. Luckily 1) it didn't eat the radiator, 2) it was discovered before Friday, and 3) Molle overnighted the replacement to me today.

Yea, especially with all the connectivity available in the great metropolis of Randolph :D
