I live in Dawsonville and have tried to get back there multiple times only to be blocked by a locked gate. I assume you ride if you're on advrider - I used to have a GS that I explored the area on. If you're up for trying to find this place I'm game - shoot me a PM.

Is that why it is glowing now?:ban:
It was one of the spots for last years' photo-cache ride. Somewhere on this hard drive I have a photo of my 4runner on top of that slab.

you guys aren't missing much here, aside from some old concrete encapsulated buildings that are very overgrown there's not much to actually see. Pics from the link pretty much tell the story from the outside, I've never tried to get inside but have read stories of people who have in years past. To my knowledge all of the open "entrances" have been sealed off and you can't get into any of the bldgs any more.

You should read some of the stories out there though and try to discern b/w the truth and the BS. There was one rumor about an underground railroad b/w DNF and the Lockheed Martin plant in Marietta... yeah right.

I will tell you that they do still monitor the property for radioactivity and will for many years to come. 2 years ago when John and I and Steve went for a snow and stopped back there, shortly after entering the property an "off duty" officer pulled up just to see what we were doing. hmmmm

Wiki has some very good info but the facility was actually created in an effort to develop nuclear powered aircraft amongst other research projects. I'm sure Larry has some good info on this topic.
