Date of Manufacture

My VIN# FJ55514390 plate has the month rubbed out--I think it was CCOT that I checked but I am still confused as to the month (is this important?) of manufacture - I was just curious if someone knows the code to determine my month (or do I really just need to know its a 69?)Thanks to all code breakers on this matter-Dave

Dave kinda handy to know for parts replacements as there are manufacture dates that delineate a different part used. Then again if you have the part and the number it isn't such a big deal...maybe for the state registration though.

For example, my 1975 voltage regulator was the same as my 7/70 but not earlier than that and not (IIRC) for the 55's after that.

looks like july of 69, per the Specter Off-Road, Inc.-Landcruiser Parts & Accessories page. although I have not figured out if the frame number in the month box is the last one made that month or the first...( I tend to think its the first made that month since my FJ40 vin works that way according to the VIN plate month/year.)
