I want to add an altimeter / inclinometer unit to the dash in my HZJ76, like the one in my BJ74. Wondering if anybody has done this in their 70 series that came without the meter assembly. I don't have the 76 in hand yet but am trying to get parts gathered. Some questions:

-Would the dash pad 55401-90K02-03 or 55401-90K02-13 be a direct swap-in for 55401-90K00-B0, for mounting points? I assume yes.
-Would the dash sub-assembly in the 76 have pre-drilled mounting holes for the meter? I assume no.
-Has anyone tried modifying a dash pad to accept a meter, maybe just by cutting into it? Could get a second one and attempt that -- seems the pads made to receive the meters are difficult to find.
-Anyone know of other dash pads with the meter cutout that are still in production and would be a direct swap-in?

Hello,

Toyota calls this part an accessory meter assembly or something like that. It was available for pre-1999 trucks.

The dash pad is a direct swap. However, it may not be available, and it is likely to have been discontinued long ago. The accessory meter itself is long gone as well.

76 Series and post-1999 trucks have a different dash setup. Some fabrication may be necessary.

There are threads about installing an accessory meter on trucks that did not have it. Again, some fitting/fabrication is necessary.

Found a bunch of threads via a google search, that I didn't find initially via the forum search. Thanks.

My 1993 PZJ75 has that temperature/altimeter pod, but I have not been able to get the temperature readouts to function properly.
I disassembled the pod and checked all the electrical connections; they all appear to be good.
Upon initial startup the display reads -E- -E- and after 15 minutes or so of driving; the display reads -29 -29..
I tried to locate the sensors or the wiring harness receptacles, but I couldn't find them.

I've had the same issue with my altimeter / temp sensor in my BJ74 since I got it. Never bothered to investigate as I never really needed the thermometer anyway. But I believe the sensor is mounted in or near the bumper, RH side (driver's side if JDM).

When I purchased the LC; I used the parts catalog to find the sensors, but they did not fit the connectors that I found.
I am have overlooked the proper sensor location; so the next time I return to the PI I will further investigate that problem.
