As some may know I sold my 94 FZJ80 with 360,000 mi on it couple years back. Been without a vehicle other than the wife’s and son’s RAV4s I steel from them. I figured it was finally time to buy a vehicle. Not sure what to get I started looking at what ever vehicle was comfortable for me. It got ruled down to either a Mercedes ML350 or an old junky Suburban but then stumbled across a cheap old Tundra. It had issues and I joked with the salesman if he has a LX570 I would be interested. Well he left and came back with a 2009 Land Cruiser. Not really wanting to own a 4th LC, I still took it for a test drive with my wife. I bearly got out of the driveway of the dealership I looked and my wife and said “Damit!...I didn’t want another Land Cruiser!” But that was too late, I was sold!!!

It’s not official yet as the LC had not even been safety inspected yet and they couldn’t sell it to me but pending the inspections, it mine. Why did Toyota have to make such an addictive vehicle??!

Better question is...
...WHY WOULD YOU RESIST? :)

As you mentioned LX570, and you test drove an LC...

I'd encourage you to do some research and test drive the LX also. It may be that the LC is more your style? The LX has quite a bit of distinct upgrades going for it. Perhaps at a better price point even.

I drove a LX570 when I was in Cal earlier this month. I loved all the bells and whistles and the driver seat was nicer/more comfortable than the LC but didn't like the suspension. In normal mode, it felt like the tire was bouncing when driving over pumps. In Sport mode it was not as bad. I had no complaints with the LC suspension.

I almost dumped and ran from the LC when test driving. I found a gravel road to test the 4LO and Crawl Mode. It started making all kinds if noise and I turned it off and told the salesman. After he read the manual and found out it was normal to make noise I felt better. I doubt I will ever use Crawl Mode again. Sounded like the tires hitting plastic panels and coil springs.

This 2009 LC has 210,000 mi. I bought my 94 FZJ80 with 208,000 mi. I hope I don't drive it to 460,000 mi as that would put me at over $110,000 in gas $pent driving LC's.

Crawl is always noisy.
Series of braking and other functions that sound terrible...but are normal.

The engine and drivetrain sell em' just about every time. 400 ft/lbs. Take the time to check the trans fluid condition amongst the other normal items.

I think you'll be incredibly happy with the LC.

Just a note on AHC. Some new the the suspension may not realize what's going on with initial impressions. Often, LX570's have their ingress/egress lowering mode on. So when someone new to the vehicle gets in and drives off over parking lot bumps, they feel it bouncing. This is because in "L" mode, suspension damping is minimal. AHC will quickly go into normal after surpassing 3mph. At which point, AHC damping will be fully engaged. There's no bouncing to be spoken of once in normal mode. Since it's an active system that constantly monitors motion, it'll quell any suspension cycling quicker and in more scenarios than any normal suspension can. With just the right touch independent of load.

One can always disable the ingress/egress mode, or manually put it into "normal" height via the switch before driving off.

LX's ride on 20's (vs 18s for LC). There can be a bit more impact harshness on expansion joints if one is really attuned, but AHC is very plush too, especially on "normal" and "comfort" modes.
