Daewoo is just an old nickname, a play on how my name was pronouced by a guy with a speech impwediment.

I have just recently acquired a 1977 FJ40.

I say acquired because cash hasn't traded hands yet, which means I am not yet contractually obligated to tell the wife, right???

I'm not looking forward to that conversation, but permission versus forgiveness is definitely the easier path.

The FJ40 was driven into a shed 15 years ago in pretty poor condition, and certainly hasn't improved with age.

Soft top only, most but not all parts there. Not currently running, but I haven't spent any time on it to work out why or what needs fixing.

Will be lurking here to find out about parts substitute and aftermarket suppliers, if they ship to Australia for less than crazy money.

Welcome and don't forget that...

Buying a not running and rusted out FJ40 and having to ask for forgiveness is not worth it.

RUN !

It actually not really that rusty. There is a small patch required in the floor under the passenger seat, and some 3-5mm (not cm, mm) holes in the drivers door.

The car has been resprayed, which makes me suspicious, but if it was rusty and not repaired properly, I would expect all of that to come back and it hasn't.

It's more the mechanical stuff that I am worried about, because of the age and it doesn't appear like there is a lot of interchangeability with newer stuff. (I mean really newer stuff, not 45 year old stuff replaced with 40 year old stuff).
