D60 Housing tube removal

It cant just be a matter of drilling out plug welds? Anyone have/know or done it before?

I haven't tried it yet, but from what I've read on Pirate, the best option is to take it to a machine shop, that has a mill, & let them bust up their hardened drill bits to remove the plug welds. *They say the weld material is extremely hard on regular drill bits. They prolly have a press to push out the tubes as well.

the tubes are normally pressed in with a 50 ton press. the plug wleds are only there to keep them from rotating.

take the axle to a qualified shop to do the work.
