Who needs the $1350 ARB safari rack tent from Cruiser Outfitters when you can get a tent and air matress for less than $60! ... LOL! It worked out great...real comfy with queen size air mattress...fit like a glove.

Nice!

Well done. Tell me about your lift? I'm a newbie and just got an 85 60. Is that still "spring under axle"? How tall is the lift. What size are the tires. Your truck sits really well.

Lift Kit and such

Did all the work myself...I'm a newbie. This website and Man-a-fre were a tremendous help. The lift is a 4" Old Man EMU from Man-a-fre. Tires: Firestone M/T 33x12.5. Wheels: Pro Comp 98's 15x10 (www.4wheelparts.com, only $67/rim). I was fairly lucky (or unintentionally good) when installing the lift. No major problems at all...in fact, the only trouble I had was screwing those stupid brake lines back in...grrr!

Knocked the lift install out in one day (with help of brother). Was relatively straight forward. I did it at a shop with air tools and everything so it made it fast and easier. Welded the reverse shackles the next day to finish of the install.

She handles great! Few things I did (after knuckle rebuild): took out a shammy in knuckle to tighten steering, tighten steering box (single screw, easy), and the lift kit came with a steering stabilizer. All those contributed to great tight, controlled handling at speeds of 70MPH. I hear people say how scary these trucks get at those speeds and mine was at first (had the infamous "death wobble" , but took the previous mentioned steps and all is well...oh yeah...alignment too! Any questions let me know.

A for ingenuity. What's all that grey stuff at the bottom of the tent/inside rack?

F for how soaked you'd've got in my part of the world these past few days.

Seriously, how/what did you anchor it to? Rainfly??

Lol! That gray stuff is the bottom of the tent. The tent dimensions are slightly larger than the roof rack. However, the queen air mattress fit in like a glove...so I guess you could say that was the anchor...the funny part is that I was going to sleep in the back on the air mattress, than 5 beers later my brother and I thought...hmmm...What if! And wala! Fun stuff. I referenced the title to the price of the ARB roof tent because that is what I would like to purchase one day...they are awesome! Let's just say it's on the dream sheet...with a number of other items.

Sweet! Those are two sick trucks!
