i'm new to this forum. but it had been 8 years since i started my 60 series, originally it was a fj60, swapped it with a 13b engine, then 2h (broke), then another 2h.. i had another fj61 which had a 3f engine now sold. an Lj70 also sold to get this 60 up (bundera in australia, mark 2 in borneo) ok back to my 60..

i had problems with my headlights and wiring system. the truck originally had the round beams but when i bought the truck i founded out modifications where it has the 4 square headlights, 2 are h4 and 2 are h1. wiring was confusing as the truck was sitting for 8 years i decided to get my 60 up and running as i miss the good driving it has to offer. so i rewired everything and finally got the park lights up. i decided to do a wiring by using it to power up relays because my wires at the steering column switch (high beam) is toasted.

i hope i can post my picture here.. tell me what you guys think (btw i dont know the basics for wiring drawing sorry) thanks!

Toyota uses switched ground for the hi/lo headlight circuits, so you will need to think in reverse for wiring the relay coils for the high beams unless you are not going to use the vehicle hi/lo switch. In other words, when you switch between hi and lo beam, you are completing a path to ground through the hi/lo switch. Refer to the Headlight Troubleshooting Thread below for more info on how the headlights work, and also how you can clean your hi/lo switch so it starts working again:

congratulations on getting the cruiser back up and going!

in addition to the negative switching thing, also know that several places offer kits that do the same thing if you'd rather throw money at it:
cruiser outfitters (bottom of page)
rallylights.com
daniel stern lighting (1/3 of the way down or so)

and if you search around here for Wayne Tangen Harness you can find plans to make your own (i'm looking too)found it

thanks guys for the support! will have a look at it ASAP and post up some pictures (if necessary)

then my alternator gave up... got it to a good local workshop. got the charging up, starter rewired, the headlights up only on the h4s and a preheat timer installed for 170 SGD.. still a good deal. now i can cruise at night :)

plan to get the h1s working on but as backup on offroading with a switch and relay.
