Here is a nice on as well. Dont know where it is from. Found the picture somwhere in the WWW.

How about cutting files for the CAD drawings. These could be handed to workshop whit CNC cutting tools. After that it is easy to weld the pieces together.

VTCruiser, what about taking the top bar and instead of making the 90's on the sides just make it one hoop(like in the top bar addition to the bullbar thread) but make it a bigger hoop and angle it out and forwards to protect the lights. I think that would be a lot more aesthetically pleasing, just as strong, if not moreso, and easier to fabricate to boot. If you didn't understand what I meant I'll do up a drawing in paint for you, don't have autocad on this machine :flipoff2:

Edit: I'm bored, here's my lame-a$$ 3 minute sketches:

Yeah i have a friend that built a coordinate based plasma cutting bench. So i was going to see if he could cut out all the steel plate pieces for me right off the drawings. That would make things very easy.

Arya, I thought about this too. The reason the bar has 90 bends is to also provide protection against horizontal limbs and such coming in fro the sides. But I agree that way does look better. Sort of a toss between functionality and aethetics i guess

I still like your original design the best. That top bar makes it look like the Cruiser has horns like a bull!

here are is the latest revision. still undecided on the top bar but I changed it as Arya suggested to see how that would look and I added lights :D The bottom ones are 7" and the top are 4.635" modeled after IPF's lights).
I also opened up the wrap arounds a little more and dropped their end supports.

your loosing me it is looking more like a manik <sp> bumper. i think you need the end supports otherwise the top and bottom don't support each other and are 'hinged' on the middle section. Thus i am not sure if the wrap around sides are going to help or hinder you in a corner collision. I think it would offer more corner protection actually if you didn't wrap it around. just my thoughts.

i agree, the wrap around end supports would help prevent them from wrapping in if i were to hit something. Just looking at different options, still not sold on the wrap arounds either, if i go with sliders and sidebars, i would probably not have them...

The bottom of it bothers me........sorta' reminds me of an institutional toilet paper hanger.
It might just be the white rendering as the one in the Venezuala picture above is better.
