Curtain airbags?

Where are you located?
I thought the U.S. was the only country that was into the airbag craze. My daughter's new Honda has 8-9 airbags in a 2 door coupe. 
They have airbags fitted to all new Toyotas in Vietnam and China
Europe and Australia have had them since the 90s and earlier on some models.
Most countries have had compulsory seat belt laws since the 60s.As the seat belt is considered a primary safety feature ,it somewhat negates the need for an airbag.
In the US ,the airbag became the primary safety feature.
The airbags in other countries open slightly slower than the US type although that may have changed as Americans are wearing seatbelts more I believe.
