Hey everybody, wanted to pick the brains of some of you guys who have more experience with the CT26 in these 1HDFTs. Getting an EGT gauge installed and got the turbo out. Is this peppering expected/normal on the turbine wheel? Notice the small chip like thing on the edge of the blade. Curious what everyone suggests doing, run as is or go ahead and replace.

This original compressor wheel is a shame... 42mm inducer is too small for this motor. And particularly this one looks very tired. Just replace it with bigger compressor wheel - Billet type one, like 46/65 from 1HD-FTE engine or 48/68 from Celica. You will also need to find Turbo workshop to machine your cold housing for bigger wheel.

46/65 from FTE was just an example, since it won't fit your shaft. However, Celica's 185 one will fit your shaft perfectly.

Is this turbo good to run in the meantime? Or does it seem like the chip on the turbine wheel could possibly make it out of balance and risk failure? I plan to upgrade the turbo when I rebuild the injectors and the injection pump.

That's nothing. Run it until you have better plans. I wouldn't put money into a CT26, there are much better turbines out there.
