We might be heading out that way for a little camping Saturday into Sunday. What time are you headed out? If it looks like bad weather my backup plan is Moab
Cheers

Hola, from Costa Rica!!

I have lots of sick Cruiser pics!! Also ready to get back to the Cruiser Q!

Nate, is everything in line

I believe everything is in line. The day's schedule has been laid out, trail/trip selected, park pavilion reserved, etc... This is a family friendly trail so if you're from out of town and looking for a reason for a family weekend in Glenwood here it is!!!

From here lets just hope for nice weather. Its starting to get pretty chilly in the mornings and I think by the end of September we'll be able to catch the leaves turning changing colors. Bring your cameras!!!

The only concern at Veltus will be parking in the lower area. Ideally it will be cool to have everyone's Cruisers all parked together, but you know as well as I that that may be difficult. Its not that big of a park so even if folks have to park at the other lots its a short walk. Remember to bring your own food and beer to the park. I know that seems lame for an event, but since we have no clue how many people will be attending nor their particular food preferences, it is easier this way. I am hoping this will be a success and next year we can get fancy and put our pennies together to supply these items. Heck maybe even a t-shirt that says " I went to Cruiser-Q, and all I got was this t-shirt" kind of gig...

Just an FYI - I jsut read that the City of Glenwood Springs is having their Oktoberfest celebration next Saturday from 12-7pm in Centennial Park. Beer garden, germany music, etc... Centennial Park is located at 9th and Grand (same place where the Tuesday Farmer's market takes place).

shooting from the hip on numbers for tomorrow I am thinking 10-15. I have spoken with a 6-8 people, and would guess that doulbing that would be a safe assumption. It could just be the 6-8 folks or I could be waaaaayyy off and 50 rigs show up.

Nate

I wish I could join you guys, but won't be able to because I'm with family and relatives. Plus we are heading back to Denver Sat.

I just got back from a trip myself in the flat tops. I was all over. I found a lake called Adams Lake that was a highlight. It's less than an hour from Deep lake near the Elk Lakes. It's has a rocky steep section before the lake to make it ATV or "Jeeps" only. So it's lightly traveled and the fishing is excellent for cut's. Sweet camp spots by the lake too. Nice find. I came back down via the transfer trail in a rain and snowstorm yesterday which made it quite slippery. You just had to take you time. It's halfway dried out now.

I went back up the transfer trail today with the family. I wanted to complete the Bowen loop but ran out of time. Got about half way around, it was slow going. It was real nice and more difficult as you mentioned Gary. No road road work had been done with all the water bars so it's more of a traditional 4x4 road we would expect to have with fun tight rocky spots through through the trees. You guys have to do it. Enjoy.

Hey Scott,
Glad to hear you had a good time. Adams lake is one spot i still need to make it to. I think if this trip gets planned again for next year it needs to be an overnight to Adams lake or Heart Lake.

Start out in Rifle>Little box Canyon>Meadow Lake>Blair Mountain>Adams or Heart Lake> Camp Out >Grizzly Cow Camp or White Owl Lake>Transfer>GWS>Hot Springs Pool

We made an attempt to run the Bowen loop ..... I ended up chickening out on one of the really tight sections ....... Didn't want to scratch my precious new paint  ..... and my friend ended up bending the frame on his suzuki sidekick. so we headed back to town. I might be able to make it through with a good spotter.
I really hope to make a Rising sun meeting or trail run sometime, dont make it to cow town to often. :D

Can't wait to see what the turnout will be.:hillbilly:

GREAT TIMES!!! Holy crap it was absolutely beautiful weather!!!

There were 13 rigs on the trail and a great route. good weather, good people, and a good BBQ to follow it up!!!

We're already talking about next year being an over-nighter. I think some folks were into the technical crawler route and others into the high country cruiser style route, and all meeting afterwards for a night of camping and commraderie (sp).

Stay posted! We'll post more pictures for those that were on the fence and missed out.

the lessons learned from today: I'm in need of; a bigger lift, bigger tires, bigger engine, lockers all around.....
