CRUISER-Q 2 in Glenwood Springs

according to the almighty NOAA weather forecast, the Glenwood Springs area is supposed to be sunny through the week. The lower half of xfer is pretty steep and should drain pretty well, coupled with the sun, and we should be good to go!!!

plan still stands as is. 9:30-10am gather at Tram parking lot. 10am roll out! I will fill my roof cage with as much wood as I can put up there for the fire. I will also take a chainsaw in case we need more. I'm still working on whether or not I can break down my grill or not.

LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS TRIP!!!!!

I am traveling solo so I will bring as much firewood as I can too. The dirt up there dries out as quick as it gets sloppy, so I agree that we should be good to go.

It has been dry now for 5 days and is expected to be dry through the weekend so I would only expect some slop holes to contend with; no long muddy stretches.

I am planning to go up the Transfer Trail Friday afternoon and camp at or near GCC. I will be monitoring CB 34 if anyone else wanders up there. Hope to see a good turn out for Cruiser-Q II.

I would like to do the loop on Sunday comming out at New Castle, but am up for about anything. But I may stay on and camp up there an extra day or two.

Have fun up there. I look forward to pics.

We had a great time!

Thanks Nate for putting this together, been wanting to check out this part of Colorado for some time now. It was great to meet some good people and the weather couldn't have been better, hopefully we can do this again next year.

Doug & Susie.

Not sure if it was the heavy rain from last week or the idea of a camp-out, but we had a smaller group this year than last. The trail conditions were great, the weather was perfect, excellent scenary, no vehicle issues, kids and dogs had a great time. Great trip!!!! If anyone has thoughts on a different route, different approach to this weekend, etc... shoot me an message I am game for anything. Here is a picture of the line-up and a link to the album I justed posted:

Really sorry that I missed this, but I have been chasing an electrical gremlin all summer and only just the day of the cruiser Q did I get it all sorted out. Finally! Electrical problems are such a bit*h! Looks like i missed out on a really good time. Thanks for posting the pics Nate, looking forward to seeing some more if anybody else has any pics be sure and post them up. Thanks :hillbilly:

Nate, thanks for getting this together again. The pictures are awesome, what a beautiful weekend. We are looking forward to next year already!

Looks like you guys had a great time! Anything exciting happen?

Thanks for posting picks. I'm going to try to make it next year for sure.

nothing too crazy happened. My 4WD VSV finally went. found a good fix here on mud and will be swapping it out this evening.

Aside from that the camping was in a great location, the kids had fun and the dogs seemed content running around the campsite all night.

Did you get your tow strap back? I came by and you guys weren't home so I left it on your porch.

Now to start thinking about CQ3.

YES! Absolutely great run. Hope to see it a full weekend next year. Have a base camp (Heart Lake) and anyone can come in whenever. Also like to see the "Q" returned to the event.

I went out to New Castle and it definitly was more of a challenge, Ran across 5-6 Jeeps and one was hung up on a rockpile. Had fun watching them fumble around getting it free.

the "Q" part definately needs to come back. Since we did not have solid numbers this year and with the overnighter, the logistics of getting proper BBQ making materials up to Griz Cow camp were somewhat difficult.

There have been some rumblings about a route in/through the other half of the Valley. Perhaps a Lead King/Schoefield/CB/Pearl Pass type route.....but then again the spots you showed us at Heart lake were friggin' beautiful and could be a perfect "base camp" area.
