CRUISER DAYS 2008 - THE BEST YET!

Cruiser days 2008 was an unqualified success. We had a huge turnout with lots of families, dogs, & kids. I counted 79 Cruisers in all, might have been more. The weather was perfect: hot but not scorching. People we hadn’t seen for years showed up. Brown Bear came down from the interior, and GlennBJ74 came over from Victoria. Greg Bowie and Petra came from Abbotsford and won the air compressor and air tools. Charles and Petra came up from Guatemala. The food vendor was busy and had a variety of smokies, Bratwurst, & wieners. We raised $700. for the Children’s Hospital, after Lisa generously donated $200. of her winnings. Thanks Lisa! Many thanks to the club volunteers who worked hard organizing, posting ads, printing materials, and lending a hand in the overall event. Also thanks to Toyota dealers, TLCA, and EBI for donating prizes.
The two pics below are the best and the most rusted. Rob Millson won the light set prize for the best. Notice his new ARB freezer/fridge! Notice the popscicle Andrea is eating: it came from Rob's new freezer.
No name mentioned for the rustiest! Think of it as a restoration project in the making...:D

It was awesome to meet soo many of you.

What a fun day. Kids loved it.

What I liked was putting faces to avatars. Scalp is really scalp.... Still not sure who Fantom is...did I meet you or not? I saw your truck. And I thought a different person whom I thought you were drove away...LOL

Names get confusing quickly though. Met some and will forget some...please no offense :)

So if you were there and never met me, you might remember the white 60 series and a bunch of kids...that was me.

It was good to meet my fellow moderator in the diesel sections, Charles. Although I never got to see him again, or the high mileage rig..

Thanks all for a good time.

Yes, I had a wedding to go to and with the parking issues after we talked I figured it would be best if we made some room for folks who could stay longer.

Next time, next time. we can sit down and have an ice tea or such...

Nice to meet you.

Had a good time as well. My thanks to those who planned and ran the event. Well done.

Cruiser Days 08 Trip - aka: mosquito trip

Nice presentation Drew, I'm surprised you didn't do a Power Point.
Well here goes something, since I was not organized enough to do a full head count and write down everyones names I don't have the list of members and guests present but we did have 16 trucks at camp for the overnight in total. We met up at the Husky in Harrison and were a little late in leaving since I knew some of the members were running a bit behind. The Harrison FSR was it's usual dusty and bumpy road to freedom with the occasional civic or mini-van crossing the path. The camping by Bear Creek was filled with a variety of people, ranging from drunk pre-teens to older annoyed campers. We found shelter by the 2nd logging camp just South of Silver camp spot and were welcomed by swarms of mosquitoes. The blood thirsty evil creatures hung out keeping us company well into the night. Since the water was high the camp was spread up and 2 fires were needed as travelling a long distance back to the tent or truck would have been harder the more we talked and drank beer. In the morning we were greeted by a warm sun, even more mosquitoes, and another cruiser (I think it was John? - Garry's friend). We hit the trail at 10:30am sharp and left Robert C. and Pawel behind to try and fight off the bugs. it's been a while since I've had 14 trucks behind me so I hope I kept a decent pace. We did a slight detour to the big black rock for some necessary Cruiser shots and then hit the Cogburn Creek FSR South. A couple of photo stops, me finding a new trail (which regrettably was a dead end) and soon we were at the top of the drivable trail and overlooking an amazing view of the valley. With a patio like this we decided to have lunch as the sun was cooking everything, sorry about the lack of shade there, at least there were no mosquitoes! We started heading back down, took another necessary photo op and stopped at the "trail" leading to the lake. Here the group broke up and only a small handful was left. We tried hiking up to the lake following the creek but most were not prepared for that intense of a climb, at least we got good photos. One lesson we did learn (hopefully), one of the guys went up ahead and we did tell him we were heading back, he continued on up and we could not find him. Garry and I did a quick rescue hike as far as we could go but decided to turn around. Finally we found out that he ended up cutting across and coming down a different way. In my opinion that was not the best idea, if something would have happened it could have taken us a very long time to find him. Regardless, everyone made it back in one piece. At the trail head we parted ways and Glenn was looking for a spot for the night. The drive home was nice, had all the windows down trying to get rid of the dust and remaining mosquitoes that were living in the truck. Thank you all for coming and sorry about the vultures, hopefully the views made up for it.

Cruiserdays was an excellent weekend. Big thanks to all who worked hard organizing the event.

I hope we weren't the ones that caused the confusion on the hike. We followed Glenn back to the trucks and since I knew my low rider 60 would be slow going back through all the cross ditches, we left before eveybody got back. Swimming in Harrison was refreshing but a bit cold.
