Looking for a club in my area (Fayetteville, NY). The only one listed in NY is a bit far. Does any one know of a club that may be trying to get started on one closer to the Syracuse area?

Depends on what you are looking for in a club. I'd bet they have members local to you.
In NC, we have 3 "chapters" so that each region can have local meetings and stay in touch while we try to have at least one group event every month, spreading them out around the state.
I'd get in touch with the club contact and see what they do and how they keep their members active in other parts of the state...
