OK guys, great news! We can enter GrayRock after 4:00 on Thursday if we are driving from 200+ miles away.

Jace gets home from school at around 4:00. I should have the GunRunner gassed up and the trailer loaded and ready to go.

Lets discuss a meeting place and possible routes to GrayRock.

Who's in???

Choctaw will probably be interested in this caravan. I would suggest 60 mph Interstate (closer to auto parts stores) Ha!

I am forced to agree with 60 mph. My 2F screams a little too loud over that speed. Staying closer to parts stores is also an added benefit. If we get a good group together with some spare parts, we should be in good shape.

So, I-20 the whole way???

The only other option I can think of would be:

Hwy 25 to Starkville: It's all 4-lane and very smooth with less traffic than I-20

Hwy 82 from Starkville to Tuscaloosa: Good roads and still less traffic than I-20

I-20 from Tuscaloosa to B'ham: Only direct route

I-65 north out of B'ham to GreyRock

What say you CottonLand?? Who's in?

Have to get kids to school Friday A.M. Debbie and I will be leaving at 8:00 am Friday morning. We will be trailering the 40.

2 more weeks!!!:bounce: :D :D :D

Chris

i might be interested in thursday but if not what is the plan for leaving friday. and what about leaving from one of the gas stations in pelahatchie by 5pm

For those who are considering going Thursday early evening....

What route?

20 all the way?

OR

25 to 82 to 20?

Pros and cons????

lets go 20 all the way. its 4 lane so if we are going slow people can go around use. i think its the most direct route.

OK, so heres the roster for the Thursday PM Caravan to the Crawl:

77TLCFJ40 Madison, MS
white 4x4 Madison, MS
hwgates Jackson, MS
Choctaw Forrest, MS

Why don't white 4x4 and I meet at the Chevron on Old Agency Road just off I-55 at 4:30. We will then head south on 55 and meet up with hwgates along the way. We should beat most of the 5:00 traffic out of town. We will stop in Forrest to meet Choctaw at the first gas station off the Forrest exit. Then we're on to GrayRock!

Anyone else?

Choctaw will be in a Duramax with truck in tow and they won't be doing 60! We have a last minute addition to the crew. My buddy Tim with Revell Hdwr. is taking his truck and he is going to tow Choctaw's truck. They are leaving Thurs. afternoon.

Later,

looks like we may get out of here late thursday evening. 8 or so. anyone leaving that late? 70+ mph

Sounds good lash...I will be ready at 4:30. I live off of Northside so we could meet up at that exit somewhere. Give me a call this week so we can work out the details....

William & Josh,

Do you guys have CB radios in your trucks?

I have a pair of walkie-talkies we could use if no CBs.

William, are you just running the bikini top?? I am!!!
Be sure to bring spare fluids like oil, power steering, brake & clutch, etc and any spare parts you have like spark plugs, wires, dist cap, rotor, etc. It might be a good idea to bring some coolant. I will have water.

60 MPH is our target. It should take us between 4.5 and 5 hours with quick gas/food stops.

I will be running a receiver basket behind my truck. I will try to load it so it does not block the tail lights, but it would be best if I were not the tail of the 3-truck caravan. How about I lead, William second and Josh can keep an eye on us from the rear. That way we can keep Josh from driving off and leaving us! William, how are your brakes?!?

Josh, If you have some extra room in the back of your truck, I sure would appreciate it if you could carry a few things for me!!! Call me on my cell: 601-594-7949. Thanks

What do yall say? 4 days to the Caravan to the Crawl (Thursday night version)

Dress warm William!

last time i ran 20 there was two lanes east and two lanes west so if i get tired of the 60 mph i can run of and leave yall. just kidden, i should have plenty of room in the back of the truck for some stuff. you can bring it over wednesday night so i can get it packed with my stuff.
call me and ill give you directions to the house.
(601-613-0586)

and i do have a cb and its always on channel 4.

should also have a free seat so if anyone gets tired of getting beat to death in the cruisers they can come sit in the ac and smooth IFS ride. just dont touch my music!!

I have a hand radio somewhere that I will try and find. I have been stocking up on fluids so I am good there.

...what is the deal with gas at the crawl? Is there a station near by?

60mph sounds good. I think I have figured out was has ailed my truck for years at high speeds thanks to Jesterb. Vapor Lock. I have run a completely new gas line from the carb to what I think is the fuel pump. I sawed the line and ran a new rubber hose. Anyways, the line now is no longer touching the engine. So hopefully it will be a smooth ride...relatively speaking of course...

So yea...I think I am ready...:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

h...what is the deal with gas at the crawl? Is there a station near by? QUOTE]

After you get off at the Mt Olive Rd, turn left cross the interstate & there's a station on the right. Fill up there, then on the way to the park there's a local gas station/grocery store on the left.

 Make sure to get  while in town.
