Cruise control issues

I have a 2004 gx470 198k miles. Cruise light pops up on the dash but will not engage. Brake lights are working so brake switch is working. Where would I start my diagnoses?

Check for codes. Engine, abs, etc.
Try playing with the switch too. Sometimes they’ll stick

No CEL or ABS light. I just have a small scan tool, Nothing like a big snap on to get deep in the system. I messed with it a few min and couldn’t get it to engage. Thought I’d reach out before trying a new switch

I'd start by getting rid of those wheels

Personally I’d really check for codes in the ABS system. Just because the lights not on doesn’t mean it doesn’t have codes. Even low brake fluid warning can cause the cruise not to engage. If you can get a techstream you also can look at the data while your pushing the switch to see if it’s sending a signal. This will rule out the switch .
Also….. I think your wheels are nice!

Nah keep the wheels and swap the GX for a firebird. Makes more sense!
