cross-wired craziness

My air con mechanic is very knowledgeable. He found something very odd.
As he probed the a/c amplifier connections the starter cranked and the engine started.
He has no idea how that happened. The a/c amplifier still does not get power normally.

Suggestions?

I would find a good automotive electrician to sort your wiring. I would also disconect the battery when parked as you don't want it firing up when your not there.

I live near the University of Viginia: lots of book-learning but no automotive electrical shop around.
