wasn't there a thread on cristina falls here, anyway kevin saya he mayde it in with his heep and all his heep buddies, sho maybey we should plan a trip sometime

not sure if they cut anys trees or any thing

I still need to fix my frame before I go anywhere:mad:

I know the feeling Jim.
Parked my 60 last September, tons of welding frame gussets and plates to the rotten frame. I just put a permit on it to do a shakedown run tomorrow.
Rust sucks.

did you get rid off all the rust on the frame?

I just got to do somthin with the front rear spring hanges, the insde of the frame rotted out and now the outside has a stress crack right through the hanger, I dont feel like taking the hagers right off like I did in the back, but I wat to do it somewhat proper,

I'm gonna start looking south of the border for a clean frame and body for lindsays cruiser, way too much work on these 60's,

I knew my frame was bad and when I saw a crack starting I hit the inner channel with a hammer. Few minutes later no more inner channel, all rust.

I used 2x2 angle as a temporary patch. Tied it in to the cross member above the spring hanger. Added plate to the outer channel. I can snap a pic of it for you. Looks a bit ghetto but should hold a while. If I like having a 60 I might look to the south in a year or two as well.

ya a pic would be good, my whole truck is ghetto, all the bonot on the hatck is all cracked up, and rust is taking hold everywhere, probably should wash it time to time

No problem. Since you started the thread I'll just keep the hijack going.

Took a while to get into it, was a bit  that 60 frames are so much more rust prone than the 40s. I wasn't sure it would be worth the effort but I sure as s*** wasn't going to buy another 60 and start a swap/rebuild when I barely got any use outta this one. Too much work/money for not knowing if I'd even like the 60.

The angle goes about 2' either side of the spring hangers (about from the fuel sedimenter to the shock x-member). Tried to spread the load over as large an area as possible. Anyways, some pics. Haven't painted the patches yet.

Looks pretty solid, did you take the hagers off or just weld to them,

Hows all the orht hanger look, like the back back, and the back of the front, it you no what I mean,

don't worryt about hyjak, ill hyjak any thread, what they gonna do John Galt my ass

Just welded to them, didn't want any more work than needed. This was just to keep the truck alive another year or two. Frame at the shackle hangers doesn't look great, but I think it will last a bit longer. The front half of the frame is a bit better. This thing will be a parts donor, but I want to wheel it first.

looks sweet,

ya I would take a look by the front rear hanger, where the insde channel attaches to the main, if it looks like it may not be attached it is not and this causes stress on the main channel,

I'll take a pic of mine on the weekend to show.

There was a thread. I deleted it. I have the power.

So, yes, let's go to Christina falls. I have no rig. I'm not taking G. Maybe I could take the "Free Spirit" (3 spd bike).... or maybe a quad instead.... or maybe I could walk...

It's paved to Halfway R, easy gravel pretty much to Graham R, so you could take Mr G to the trail head anyways. I was sorta in that area last fall but didn't get over to Christina Falls. Sounds like a fun trip though.

Lame excuse. Get your homo brother to weld it for you.

I just want to fix it so it will last a while, /// I dint take a piture of the inside cause its ugly, I need one day to cut out a bunch of rust (and I dont know where to stop there) and then grind and clean up, cut out some metal and weld in, It would probably be better to take the hanger off ..... but I dont want to... and thats why its taken years

hmmm.... in that case, I know where there's a cherry frame sitting, out for the taking. :)

That's what my rear hanger looked like, I just welded the patches on top. It isn't a permanent fix but it will last a little while. If you start to cut out sections to replace you'll end end up fabbing a new frame cause the entire stock frame is rusted to s***.

yup, i think ill do that too,

It's just on the edge of town. No cherry body unfortunately. Wait a few months and there might be one.... :)
