Damn, sorry to hear that Todd.

It looks like Riley has stuck.

yeah, chow's are usually a handfull.

For fun I went with my brother to the dog park today and grabbed baxter, just to see how he would do. He just walked around and layed on the ground. While the other 50 dogs ran and played. I wonder how he would do with the chow.

He might not be a chow. He's got a curly furry tail, short ears and extra skin on his face. He has a small blue spot on his tongue.

He is not at all protective or dominating like a chow. He is smart as Hell and pretty active. He could care less about other dogs when he's on walks or when they pass by the house.

ive seen a few goldens with a spot on thier tongue...including baxter.

Ok.....so I'm way behind the times on the WCLC

Sorry to hear about the sad event
Glad to hear you have a new member of the family

We had a shepered/chow mix, he wondered up one stormy night and never left for 9 years. I too was concerened about the chow in him, but he was the best dog we could ask for. He bonded with our female lab mix eight years his elder, and the grandkids could climb all over him and tug and pull his ears and tail all day. He even accepted the cat as a buddy. He never once showed any mean side or aggressiveness toward the kids or my mother-in-laws little dog. But he did look big and mean from the road, and would bark at any car that pulled into the drive.

So don't be too put off by the chow mix, get to know him and see where it ends up.
