Hi-
does anyone know where I can find a tutorial about replacing the crank cover gasket on a 3VZE motor? Mine seems to be leaking some oil close to were the oil filter is mounted. I know it's not the oil filter, or the oil pan (because i've had that professionally done 2x's already). A buddy told me it was the crank cover gasket. Any suggestions? Chiltons and Haynes are BS when it comes to this type of thing so I'm hoping some wisdom may be useful. Doesn't seem too hard to get to, but I'm just wondering how labor intensive it really is.

Also does anyone know where I can get a Toyota's FSM for the 1995 P/U (DLX). I heard those are spectacular, but extremely hard to get ahold of...

Thanks in advance-

The (well most) 3VZ's have an oil cooler... And there is a rubber o-ring behind it.

And I'm sorry, but you'll have to explain to me better what a "crank cover" is, and especially since it's near the oil filter...

And see the FAQ for links to down loading the FSM.

Well what i'm calling a crank cover, is apparently the oil pump.
I included a picture of the approx. location. In the manual it shows the oil pan baffle and oil pan need to be removed. Is there a way around this? I hope this illustration helps.

The 3.0 has two provisions for a oil filter...

Is your filter or leak very close to the crank cover, or is the filter back more towards the middle of the block?

Might just be the block-off for the front most provision.

If you've got a oil cooler, I think your filter will be back towards the middle of the block... And if you can't visually see it, I'd say that's NOT where your leak is coming from.

There is a round hat looking thing right where you are indicating that's another provision, it's just blocked off... and that COULD be the source of the leak...
