Cool, I saw you post up in the classifieds for some tires. Hope you can pick something up on the cheap. Keep your eyes out for some 295's. I just cant see paying $200/tire plus taxes to buy em new

Lots of 315's out there if anyone is looking....

Sadly, not a 295 to be found....

295s and 305s are pretty much odd sizes out there. One reason I went 285s cuz of its availability if I needed a replacement (used and cheap) out in the boonies.

Good luck tho!

Both good points. Ease of replacement if needed far from home and its only a half inch or quarter inch difference I suppose...

Brad get the 295s if you want them!
As long as you have spares and a fix flat kit especially another truck when you go out - Why not.

With the extra height on the 295s, it fills up the wells better and from what people say - any extra on the tallness helps clearance.

Reid (Landcrusher70) runs the 295 AT KOs and the Dude has been all over the desert and over boulders!
Have you seen the tires Sam (PKP80) just bought? I doubt may people carry that size in the boonies!

Anyways, Im a cheap bastard with 3 kids to feed! :bang:

when buying used tires, check the manufacturing date so you don't end up with "like new tread" but all dried up old stuff...

Spoil Sport :flipoff2: Let the buyer beware...

haha, I would get the 295's if money was no object and I could buy 5, have em mounted and balanced and be on my way. That'd be well over $1200 though, soooooooo those 285's are looking mighty fine

Thanks for the tip, will definitely be checking manufacture date. Whats a rule of thumb, no more than 2-3 years old??

On topic,

I just called and got the DOT id# for a set of tires.

DOT BEYUUB11209

The only way I can make sense of this number is that they were manufactured in the 20th week of '99. Anyone else? Its certainly not 12/09 since we're in '08!

IIRC, the date is a 4 digit code in a little oval window usually...

I would probably pass if over 5 years or so.

Yep, I run 295's. They are a great fit for an OME lift.

Want mine? :hillbilly:
