Craftsman tools & Sears......

You can get the Blackhawk, Challenger (old stuff) and Proto line replaced at places other than Sears and get next day replacement.

I have all three and have never had a problem.

Craftsman is also sold at Western Auto and NTB.
I have noticed that Husky tools sold at Home Depot are also exchangeable and some have similar quality to Craftsman. All of my Husky odds and ends have held up as well as the Craftsman. Still I buy Klein for electrical tools and Channel for good pliers and adjustables and Vise Grip for clamping pliers.

Regarding the rice comment, it does suck that tools are made in China, however the tools made in Japan are quite good. Check out this ebay store who sells tools that are made Japan like the Land Cruiser:

eBay Store - Kinetik Auto Equipment Tools: Wrench Socket: 3 4 Dr 24 Breaker Bar Wrench Flexible Tool 3730

I have bought some and they are good. Not Snap-On, or Bonney (IMHO even Snap-On is not as nice at Bonney Tool), but better than craftsman. Kinetik or Konnik wrenches are great in that they are very long. They also sell long zero offset wrenches that I have so far only seen from Snap-On.

Another great Japanese tool brand is Hozan who makes the JIS spec cross point screwdrivers such as the side marker lights on a FJ40 that a "regular" Phillips/Reed/Posidrive/etc does not seem to fit in. Get the Hozan cross points and they fit in so well that you'll likely never strip out the head unless it was already damaged.

HOZAN JIS Screwdriver Set (5 drivers)

Product Description
J.I.S.(Japanese Industrial Standard) Philips tips are slightly different than those typically found in the U.S. These drivers are great for those experiencing freq
uent cam-outs with regular Philips drivers.

I found out about Hozan working as a bike mechanic. Great stuff.

That's a great site. I ordered a bunch of stuff from them a few years ago. I now have a lifetime supply!

Thanks
