Couple of 2F engine questions

This is for you experienced mechanics out there...

I have the engine out on the engine stand stripped down to the block and head in preparation for final degrease and paint.

(1) Any problem undoing the 2 left rear head bolts holding on the engine lift hook so I can clean that area up, then retorqueing just those two bolts back to spec?

(2) Is there any specific torque for the engine mount brackets ( "ears" ) which attach to the block?

(3) Anti-seize or locktite on any of these?

(4) Anyone ever use Hi-temp barbecue paint on the egr cooler? Good/bad?

(5) Any recommendations for a primer to use for doing engine block or other "hot" metal components?

Thanks for any insight/opinion...

I used the 500 degree paint on my SBC and it is holding up real well. At AZ I've had people come in saying the 1500 degree paint worked real well, and others that said it didn't work worth a damn. With most of the paints, prep work is the key to good paint. I degreesed my engine, then used brake cleaner on it so I got rid of all grease and cleaner residue. Has to have a good clean surface to stick too. I have used zyline before also to clean, works good (change out rubber gloves often, will eat them). For the other questions, I'm not sure. Hope this helps.

Dave, I've found the POR-20 (high temp silver) works great on the air rail and EGR cooler -- been on mine for several months now and now problems.
I did the same, removed the hook bolts, cleaned the area, painted the hook with POR-20 and reattached, retorqued - no problems yet..
I did use antiseize on most all bolts - as far as the "ears" go - just snug it up as I recall the bolts also hold part of my alternator bracket.
Painting the engine - I used POR-15 as a base coat then topcoated with PORs engine enamel - it has held up really well and looks very nice.
Attached is a photo showing the EGR cooler and exhaust pipe coated with POR-20. The frame is painted with POR-15 then topcoated with their Chassis Coat Black.

Looks good! I've got two coats of POR15 on the frame, axle housings and rear brake backplates, after having them sandblasted. When I'm done the engine, my plan is to mount the axle housings to get a rolling frame, put the engine on, then attack the exhaust system. I like the way your came out, and will probably do the same! Thanks for the picture!

I don't think Land Cruisers are supposed to be that clean. You'd better run that through a clay lake bottom or something before it breaks!
