The company I work for is doing a kitchen in Co. for a client, $110k for cabs only. No tops or appliances, just unfinished walnut cabs FOB their front door.

My boss just spent $50K on his kitchen. Granite, Cherry wood and SS Appliances. He did most of the work himself. I'm getting ready to relocate my kitchen and & $7k will cover the Viking Stove and Oven. I'm making my own cabinets and doing all of the work myself and I estimate $2,500 for cabinets, $9,000 for granite, $2,000 for flooring, $1800 for a hood, $3,000 for windows, $2,000 for plumbing and electrical additions, $20,000 for appliances. I live in an upscale middle class area.

i seriously doubt these buyers (first time home buyers who are teachers) plan on spending mega bucks on SS viking appliances and top shelf marble/granite countertops.

better to pay with a credit card!!!!
gives you some recourse if they go out of business, or just suck:censor:

cabinets, working with a reputable dealer
generally work in 3" increments to keep them standard
confirm everything, “mis-ordered cabinets not our responsibility?” - should be contractors responsiblity
double check measurements
confirm order with mfr. pmt. received, bal. due
countertops,
granite pattern can help hide "stains"
sealers easy to apply, won't prevent stains!, give you
a window to clean up something that might stain(wine)
cheap granite = basic single edge's, straight run's, often
use smaller pieces giving you lots of seams
granite tile with wood or granite edge = inexpensive option

opening wall's etc
really important to get engineer involved.
(new footing in crawl space to support larger opening)

contractors, all are not created equal.
picking the right contractor is an inexact science
they should be familiar with projects of your type,
it helps them from forgetting something major mid way
thru your project
don’t be a guinea pig for them to learn to do something new!
they have a better idea of what to expect with any given job
keep track of $ spent.
have contingency $ set aside
“while your at it” jobs
“look what we found” jobs

bids, It’ll cost more than expected.

timeline, It’ll take longer that expected

cabinets $3300 galley kitchen( about 10 boxes total)
countertops $2700 granite

cost estimate from others 40k, I spent just at 20

will be architect as soon as I finish the tests

Its possible to do it in 7000$. Me and my boyfriend did home renovation last year of our house but you will have to do some smart planning beforehand.
