My parents, knowing my love for everything 1940/50s got me this badass little cooler. They also have a new logo being made for it so I can sandblast and repaint it. One of the coolest looking little coolers I've ever seen. Can't wait to get it restored nice again. There is a little bottle opener in it too.
That fridge is going to be the fridge we use in our kitchen after we remodel. THis summer I got a entire 1950's metal kitchen for free, it's all in killer shape. So this summer we're going to rip out our ugly 80's orange and blue kitchen and "upgrade" it to 1950's awesomness. The fridge needs a new cord, but works great, and I have a 1952 Wedgewood stove that we'll be using. I'm VERY exicted.
Yeah, I got my love of old stuff from my parents. Their house looks like a museum. They used to restore furniture. It's not hard for us to shop for each other, pretty much anything old and cool. ha ha. I haven't totally sold my wife on the awesomeness of oldness yet... but I think she's coming around. She did finally admit that my 50's coffee maker actually made a lot better coffee then the one she bought last year.
Lately I've started trying to collect vintage camping stuff as well. Had never really thought about old camping stuff until I got my 55 and thought it would be super cool to restore it and then have a bunch of older camping gear that would fit the era to use with it. I don't plan to take my pretty 55 off road other then dirt roads, so when we go car camping with the family it would be fun to have a bunch of vintage camping stuff to go with our vintage cruiser.
I'll for sure post pictures when I get it done. Just need some warmer weather for painting! It's either raining or freezing lately.
I just love old stuff. There was no such thing as "planned obsolesce" back in the day. We have such a throw it away and buy a new one every year kinda world now. Crap, even cars now are planned to only last 10 years so so.
