Coolant sensor wire broke

So yeah my sensor wire broke when I was putting the manifold back on. It had broke previously and I used a butt tap to fix it (not sure 100%) anyways I used a different connector to resplice and now it no longer works.

Is there a better way of fixing the wire more permently ?

Yes, strip back the insulation on both ends, slip a good long piece of heatshrink over one end of the wire, twist the wires together for good mechanical connection, solder them together, slide the heatshrink over the soldered connection and shrink it. Could also then tape over the heatshrink with electrical tape for a bit more weatherproofing.
