Howdy all! Sorry about the newb questions here but I need a little reassurance. I've all but decided to get a LC.

Questions are:

Are the 2008's EXACTLY the same as the 2009's, save for privacy glass?

And have there been ANY teething problems with the new model. I know the new Tundra has issues (I own one and follow along with the TS forum) in its first and second year. Referring to thin EPA paint, flimsy tailgate, sinking dash, tranny-driveline clunk, bed bounce, and so on. Now mine has been mostly pretty good but I'm a little wary about getting into a 2008 LC just to find it has issues. And I have read this forum to death but I really want to hear it directly. I'll be happy to hear anything else anyone has to say, as well.

Mucho Gracias.:wrench:?

I've had mine for a year, and couldn't be happier.

The EPA Paint does get scratched by trees and bushes, the tailgate is flimsy but will support my 200lbs a$$ and then some, no dash sinking, no transmission or driveline problems on mine to date, and it only bounces when I make it.

It looks like you have TRD wheels on your LC, nice. I put those TRD wheels on my Tundra. Very awesome. When I buy one I should move them. I wonder how LC wheels look on a Tundra.
BTW, on my last service I rotated the tires and I was missing one lugnut. 150$ from Sparks no less for a new set, can't buy just one and Toyota answers the phone for TRDUSA now so that's a bummer and no help. Anyhow, I think my Garage's torque wrenches are out of spec. They didn't know to "unscrew or unload" the tq wrench after use so I don't think the lugs were tq'ed right at the last rotation. 97 ft lbs. Point is, perhaps you ought to check them yourself occasionally, If you don't already.

Thanks so much for the input. I'd hate to have first year model issues.

You too!?!...I lost a lugnut during a trip 2500 miles from home. I managed to order lock-nuts the next day and used that as a replacement.

If you have extra, I would be in the market to buy 4 of the regular lugs, I went to buy them too, and my dealership said I needed to go direct to TRD, they couldn't get them in?

I ended up reefing mine tight on the last change, and now I do check them regularly.

The truck is awesome. Not sure other than privacy glass what has changed. My guess is nothing. It looks like they may be slowing plants down, so you may have an easier time finding an '08 on the lot than ordering an '09. Depends upon how patient you were.

Any problems you have heard with the Landcruiser are probably the diesel ones. They have tailshaft clunking issues, stalling issues, oil issues and 6th gear issues. I'm thinking that the 5.7L we get has been fixed after the 1 year in the Tundra.

Good luck, hope you get one!

I kinda like mine.... :P

Thanks for the response. I wonder if the Diesel shares the driveshaft,/tranny that the Tundra has. Seems like these are common problems that the Tundra had. I don't see a lot of griping on these boards about them though so I'm much more confident than I was before. I see some 08's out there and Dealers really want to move them. So it might be coming together for me.

Yes, I will absolutely share my :hhmm:......awww better not. Too easy. :D Kidding aside, PM me where you want them sent and I will UPS you 4 of them for free (I see you're in Canada so you pay shipping, OK?). Hopefully, I can figure out how to do that. I expect them today. Now, I only have 15. Anybody, else?<GGG>

BTW, is changing the oil on this thing a giant PITA like it is with the Tundra with skidplate?

Regards.

I've never changed my own oil, but from what I hear it's still a PITA. Just an excuse to get the Rasta's :D

Well the most annoying thing is that she uses a oil canister...not a regular filter. Otherwise same as any other oil change.....

:lol::D:grinpimp::hillbilly:
Now I wish I didn't buzz my hair off.

Yeah, the other problem with the Tundra is you have to take the skidplate off. Then you get to fool with the cannister. Can you say oil spill? I guess that the oil and air filters are the same? Maybe tomorrow is the day I'll bust a move on one.:smokin:

Found a left over 2008 LC at a Dealer and bought it. Very nice, ride. Thanks for the help, ya'll.:steer::grinpimp::clap:

This thread is worthless without PICS!!!!

If you found it, then why did you have to pay for it? :hillbilly::cheers:

Oh, and yeah, what DTT said:

Here are a couple of quick pics. LC with the upgrade package. I'm liking it the hell out of it.

Whoa! It's a clean version of mine!

Now it's time to quit "liking" the hell out of it and go beat the hell out of it! It could use a few bumper dings and a dusty interior!! haha

Congrats :)

Very nice..... now get rid of the front bumper! lol congrats

Thanks ya'll. It's a very sweet truck!

My last ride was a KTM 400XCW. I had a 450 EXC before that and a Harley Softail Deluxe. They're all gone after I wrecked out (for the last time) and broke 9 ribs and just generally trashed myself. I'm 45 and I still have the desire but I am moving most of my pursuits to active and fun but less dangerous since I have to be intact to work and I 've got a little guy to think about now. I had a lot of fun on those bikes and miss it but nothing is forever and I had to move on. So there you go.

Cmon....if you keep the stand then you are still thinking about riding. I'm 42 and just got rid of my last KTM 200exc...stand is still in the garage...thinking about another one. I had not ridden for 15 years when I picked it back up several years ago...it is quite addictive.

Nice ride....enjoy.
