I have a question about different harnesses. How different would the harness from my 66 FJ45LV be as compared to that of a 78 FJ55? Reason I ask is I have both harnesses and have installed the drive train from the 55 into the frame of my 45. I need to figure out what will work best. The 55 harness is in near perfect condition but still in the 55 body. I can pull it out, but before going to the trouble, I thought I would ask guys if it is even close? Figure if it is, I could use it to rebuild my original harness which I think is decent for its age. I did see something about post terminals vs. plugs? Seeing HJ47 wiring mess makes me very nervous.

I'd take the '55 harness, pin it to a sheet of plywood and go to it. That's what I did with the '55 when I put the diesel in it. I stripped out all the gas engine stuff, I had a separate 'BJ60 harness that I stripped out the truck stuff and then "married" the two together. In all that messing about I made one wiring mistake, not too bad in my book.

I'll be using a BJ60 harness for my '45LV as well and making the changes to accomodate the '45LV lighting. My 45LV harness is a mess.

Cruiser guy, I like the idea of pinning to plywood. What did you use as pins? Also, how similar are the harnesses with regards to distances and routes? Similar or totally different? I guess I will know more when I see the two laid out next to one another.

I can't say how different the harnesses are since my 45LV harness basically doesn't exist it's been hacked so much! For "pins" I think I used nails or screws and held the wire with "twist ties" (that you close produce bags with) from the grocery store.

Sounds simple enough.
