Most of the opinions I've seen put them between a 44 and a 60.

But closer to the 60!![]()
Rear, yes.
LC rear ring gear= 9.5"
d60 ring gear 9.75".
Same size shafts as older D60 rears with full floating axles (30 spline).
Front, no.
Front diff is smaller than a d44.
Toy ring gear= commonly referred to 8" (actually 7.8???")
d44 ring gear= 8.5"
Both are 30spline at the diff. The 80 has a large birfield which stock for stock is stronger than a typical d44 u-joint (760x and certainly the older spicer part# 297).

Smaller in dia, but is HP, so it runs on the strong side of the teath, unlike most D44s. Also (IIRC) the Yota front has bigger bearings.![]()

Don't know that I have ever heard of or experienced d44 bearings being a problem.

Nor have i heard of too many toy R&P's having issues, front or rear.
