I have a CEL question regarding code 71 on a 94 FZJ80. I can't get the damn light to turn off!
I replaced the head gasket on it a couple of weeks back and ripped everything related to the EGR and PAIR system off of it. It runs great but threw code 71 pretty soon after I started it. I then just put a jumper wire between the 2 terminals for the EGR sensor... nothing changed, CEL popped back up. I then added a 10k resistor, as I read the OBD2 models are picky and require not just a raw wire between the 2 terminals. This is an OBD1 model but I had one laying around and figured it was worth a shot. Still no change, CEL pops back up after driving a little bit. Anyone had a similar experience and know how to get this CEL to turn off?
I took all the crap off that's underneath the intake manifold.
and due to that, this plug is disconnected. I haven't read anywhere that I need to jump anything on this plug to get the CEL to turn off, but maybe I haven't searched enough??? I ended up jumping all of these terminals aswell and the light went away for longer than usual... and then came back on.
as it sits right now, 10k resistor is taped up in the terminal.
Just kinda at a standstill and was wondering if anyone with more wisdom than I knew what could be going on. Thank you!
