Coastal Cruisers on Facebook

One of the things we discussed at our last meeting was to utilize Facebook for some of our communications, especially events like Cruiser Days.

Turns out, we have had a Facebook page for a few years now.

Not everybody is thrilled with Facebook. Some avoid it. If we use it, there should be alternate means for them to receive information.

Agreed, all club communications will remain on MUD but we need other avenues to reach the masses and these days Facebook is the logical choice.

On there - apparently I have 'friends' I have never met or even heard of....

Not that we had much privacy before, but you can kiss goodbye any semblance of privacy once you join Facebook. They don't even let you quit Facebook until they allow you to. You are just "deactivated" until such time you go to their site, then you are "active" again.
My wife joined Facebook to play Scrabble with a friend in Victoria. She didn't participate in the usual postings. All of a sudden Facebook put something up on her site, saying she "liked" an article she had only glanced at on the Vancouver Sun site. This is total bull**** manipulation on their part and we immediately "deactivated" her membership but it is, so far, not deleted. Someday we'll have to stand up and fight to regain lost privacy.

that is so true these days. its funny how people offer any sort of info freely to others to use.

i even dislike posting pics on the net but i guess you have to join the masses sooner or later.
