Anybody wanna go wheeling? We are planning a trip for this coming Saturday up the East Harrison FSR and have a look at the condition of the Clear Creek road. If that is not possible, we will have a barbeque on the beach near the logging camp where Mat tried out his vehicle's seaworthiness. Due to the short daylight hours we will have to have an early start. The meeting time and location will be announced here this coming week. In case of mechanical problems, we still have Sunday to deal with it.

If I'm back in town by then I'm in for sure. I know the bc4x4 guys usually meet at the sasquatch inn. Did any of you see the video of the mishap at sunrise lake on utube?

OK, here’s the scoop. This run may not be suitable for very young children. Meet in Harrison Hotsprings townsite at the Husky gas station (across from the pub) at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning, Jan 19. Bring warm clothes because the outflow winds off the lake can be very cold in winter. Chances are that the snow will be too much for us to get to Clear Creek and the avalanche hazzard is also a factor. Bring chains AND SHOVELS if you have them. We don’t want a repeat of the Mt. Cheam problem where some vehicles had inadequate tires to get up a snowy icy hill. If it turns out that we just do the barbeque only, and if the wind is too cold on the lake, we can go up to the Big Silver Creek campsite near the far end of the airstrip as that area would be more sheltered than the lakefront. Wear your long woolies and spare wool socks, gum boots, and hand warmers. MAT: BRING YOUR WETSUIT AND SWIM RING!

Wheeling!

I'll be joining the group as well. My brother may be my co-pilot. . .
:o)

I'll be there. The bbq sounds good but I plan on going in to the springs. if I can't get there by truck then on foot (skiis or snowshoes). If the weather is decent I might be camping.

Lesson from last year. Set your e-brake if you have one and if you don't get yours' fixed.

When I was up there in December the water in my drums froze in the couple hours I was parked after the last two foot deep creek ford. Lesson learned don't use your e-brake with wet brake lining .

Well, looks like it's going to be a small group this time out.
I have a couple last minute items to sort out in the morning so if I'm not at the Harrison Husky at 10am, don't wait, I know where to find you :steer:.
Too bad Sunday is the better day forecast. .

Up at 6:00 a.m., feeling like a dirtbag, weather looks doubtful, sleet coming down outside. Jeez, nobody’s going to come out in this mess. On to Gary T’s up at the top of the hill in Coquitlam, Christ its snowing hard. Onward to Harrison Township, hope somebody shows up besides us. Here we are, what’s this, three Cruisers waiting. Here comes a couple more, hey, now we got us a convoy -- 9 in all.
Mat in his leaky 60, Martin in his elder 40, Pawel with Rob Cz in the HDJ81 sporting an impressive laptop station, Aaron with dad Walter in his very cool ’89 BJ74 and new tires,
Justin VanH in his BJ70, Greg VanT in his BJ60, Gary T in the BJ74 with Bill as bitch. Guests were Mat, Mike & Ryan in a lifted 4Runner, and Clayton in his V8 Gran Cherokee.

Down de road, lots of potholes and mud flying, but NO DUST! Some ugly new clear-cuts and they talk about us tramping on the environment! Fun on the lake with a few pulls needed and Martin got soaked by Gary’s wall of water. Mild temperatures and no wind on the lake. Mat busts a shock absorber for the only real mechanical problem of the day. Clayton hangs up the front of his Cherokee on a stump but Aaron cuts him out with his trusty chainsaw. Shiskabob BBQ on the hibachi and warm fire on the beach, complete with Polish warm spiced wine and hearty grub for midwinter winter fare.

Onward down de road past the sand piles and on up the Clear Creek trail. Not even halfway up, the snow’s getting deeper. We pass some down coming vehicles that tell us to go back; Hell No, No Pain, No Gain! We’re brain damaged! Keep going, then pass 3 Samaris killing time waiting for springs for a busted 4Runner. They tell us to go back, but we keep going of course but the snow keeps getting deeper. Gary gets stuck at the same spot he put his chains on last year, and where Rob Millson left his 60 last year. The Cherokee keeps going with that V8 power but snows getting deeper. Mud and s*** flying all over the place. He gets stuck too. Greg and Aaron pull them out and Martin carries on in his FJ40. Finally Martin gets stuck and Mat had to go up and pull him out. It’s getting dark now, time to pack up and go home for a hot rum. Down the hill and play on the sand piles for a while. Quick run through the Silver Creek camping area. Finally stop in Bear Creek Park and find a small smoldering fire and get it going again. Martin stays to warm up some grub and we finally call it a day and hit the highway for home.

What a great day, Happy New Year to everybody.
