COASTAL CRUISER MEETING NOVEMBER 9, 06

The meeting got underway about 8:00 pm and the following 23 members were present:
Garry B, Garr C, Marcin C, Rob C, Al D, Drew E, Greg H, Chris H, Wayne I, Craig J, Paul K, Rod McD, Dan M, Rob M, Mel C, Barry P, Mat R, Phil S, Jeff S, Gary T, Steve T, Justin VanH, and Bill W.
Guests present were Marie, Rabecca, and John.

- The December 9 Christmas Party numbers are in and so far about 35 members, including guests, have signed up. This is your last chance to sign up if you have not already done so. We decided to scrap the December 14 Coastal Cruisers meeting because it is too close to the party. There is a great lineup of raffle prizes for the party and they are listed on Mud. Notices re parking, room rates, and a map will be posted on the Mud thread before Dec 9.
- Garry B talked about how to post your pictures on www.coastalcruisers.ca and if you email him he will send you a message of how to do it. If members require a membership list of phone numbers and email addresses, just email Bill W and I will send you a Microsoft Excel attachment.
- Jeff S came to the meeting with his NEW FJ 40. Yes, he has a big, new, remote controlled 4 WD model that is a riot and we are trying to get another one for the raffle. There’s a photo of one on the Mud Christmas party thread. They cost $250., batteries included!
- We discussed, once again, the issue of TLCA and 4WDABC membership. The result was the same as last time. ALL Cruiser owning Coastal Cruiser members are expected to be current members of TLCA. We are a Chapter of TLCA and MUST support our organization. We are NOT a chapter in good standing because a number of CC members have not joined or renewed their TLCA membership. It is understood that when you join Coastal Cruisers that you join TLCA as well. We should not have to chase you and plead with you to get your act together. As for the 4WDABC, it remains optional whether you join them or not. They do good work to keep the backroads open at a time when more gates are going up and industry is pushing hard to privatize the woods for commercial use, not public recreation. If we all join separately, each vote counts for one, whereas if we join collectively as a club, we only get one vote.
- Winter wheeling – at this time of year not much wheeling is happening. Dan M is planning to lead a run up to Clear Creek in January. We went last year and it snowed a foot. Also, River Shiver is coming up around February 7-8 and Steve T, Rob M, and Phil S may attend this year.
- New members: Justin VanHove joined and drives a Tan ’81 BJ42. He came up Mt. Cheam; remember the 42 with 4 tires on the roof? Also Mel Carrol signed up and drives a black ’85 BJ70. Welcome gentlemen!
- The TLCA Cruiser calendar count is in and it looks like Rob is ordering about 62 altogether. They will be in sometime in January and no whining please if you neglected to order one. If you have not ordered one yet, then quickly contact Rob M or Bill W.
- Club raffle. Jeff S won first and took the socket set and $100. for the next meeting's prizes in January.
- Drew scored a magnetic parts tray. Gary T got the Cobra CB radio. Mel C got the vinyl bag, Bill W the survival harness. Steve T got the Darth Vader face mask. Garry B got the 24V Army relay, Phil scored the other rescue harness. Thanks to Marcin for donating the harnesses and miscellaneous hardware bulbs and stuff. Also thanks to Jeff S for donating the vinyl bag and the 24 Volt military relay.
- The meeting fell apart about 9:45 and at least 11 smoke-belching diesel Land Cruisers creeped out across St. John’s, while nearby the Smokies swarfed at their obsessive-compulsive donut fix, oblivious to the passing of questionable V.I. vehicles moving by outside Tim Horton’s.

See you all at the Christmas Party!

I was the big grand prize winner, and I opted for the socket set as I already have CB's in both of my 40 series rigs. Rob gave me a $100 to get prizes for Januaries meeting.
I believe Gary B won the really cool 24v diesel thingamabob as well. Phil S won one of the survival/first aid things as well. Who got the gas mask?

I can't believe I won something... especially considering that I didn't buy a ticket!
Check around, it sure wasn't me.
I'm saving my dinero for the XMas raffle.
