I won't be able to make it again. Can't make it to next month's either. Still stuck on nights. Will try to get my dues to you eventually Bill.

Don't know if I'll be out for a while, I've dedicated my time off to getting my AME license so I can afford to buy parts for the truck faster, and more importantly a garage/shop to park it in and keep me dry while I'm working on it. Will try to get out though, been itchin' to try the new tires off road.

Coastal Cruiser Meeting Feb 8, 07
The usual suspect CC members met at the Golden Spike for dinner, the most popular grub being the Spike Burger and the Mother Of All Wraps. The consensus boiled down to the brilliant Canucks performance Tuesday night that was diametrically opposite to their dismal loss on Wednesday. Oh yeah, we talked Cruisers too. And, yes, Mat R is back from a sun soaked crazy month in Thailand. Can anyone explain how he knows all these female servers on a first name basis?

The meeting was called to order by 7:50 with 22 members present: Steve T, Marcin C, Rob M, Drew E, Martin S, Dan M, Phil S, Rob Mroz, Rod M, Paul K, Mat R, Rob C, Malcolm M, Gary T, Kim R, Craig E, Justin V, Steve P, Craig J, Greg V, and Bill.

Guest: John G (canucksafari) from the Nissan Safari club.

Several members paid their CC dues with about 11 still overdue. We know who you are and where you live! Steve also expounded as usual re TLCA dues of which way too many of you are shamefully delinquent.

Discussion of the Clear Creek trip and most thought it was a great day. Sprung over vehicles with 35” BFG AT tires seemed to do well in the soft deep snow.

Our next run will be Feb 17 up West Harrison FSR to Sloquette Hot springs and Skukumchuck overnight. Trail master Dan M will post a thread. He is going up Friday the 16, and Marcin is going up Sat the 17. Do not attempt this run alone, you may get stuck. One group got stuck up there a few years ago and had to be helicoptered out at a cost of $700. for the rescue. No names mentioned but one drives a J**P.

Cruiser Days. The committee will get busy and decide on a location and the posters will be developed by Marcin. Any input and participation is appreciated.

Club officers will remain the same this year: Pres Steve, Vice Pres Rod, Treasurer Rob, and Membership Co-ord/Secretary Bill.

Welcome new member Rob Mroz (Sopel), ’89 HJ61, JDM.

Dan M has proposed a scavenger hunt, for CC members only, with $700. in prizes. Details are to be arranged, date being around April 21-22. If you want to participate, join the Coastal Cruisers.

The monthly raffle prizes will now be worth $150. as of the March 8 meeting.

The raffle prizes were won first by Steve P who walked with the big screw driver kit. Martin S grabbed the LED headlight and Craig E the mechanic’s creeper. Drew scored both the tie-down set and the tire gauge, Steve T the map CD, Mat the spool of wire, and Rob C a map CD. Many thanks to Marcin for donation of the wire and map CDs.

The meeting broke up about 10 pm with the usual hard core staying to tell tall tales. Out on the streets of fabulous Port Moody, the sidewalks were rolled up and the town hunkered down for the night. A hazy fog hung low, giving the joint a pseudo romantic aura as the rust bucket Cruisers took a smoky clattering attempt up the Port Moody hill.

We hit a whiteout with wind chill the temp dropped to -30/40 deg F. Batteries almost froze (lucky I was running almost pure anti-freeze), all other liquids froze, hard to start vehicles. It was $800 and the cops made us leave at gun piont. Not like we wanted to go.

But I agree, at least a couple of trucks together, never by yourself.

I was in Skookumchuk (now known as Skatin) HS wednesday. Disappointingly we did not have the springs to ourselves, there was a large group of Australian girls from Whistler there.

With the recent warm weather the Lake Road is now completely clear at least up to Skatin, but nice and muddy! There is active logging going on in the area with quite a few logging trucks on Lake Road up to km 28.5 bridge, and on West Road up past Baptiste, so monitor Common on VHF.

Can't comment about Sloquet, I decided against attempting it after hearing from some of the locals that there's still some deep snow up there. I also heard that there is some blowdown up there as well, so depending on whether anyone else has been up there yet a gas saw may be necessary.
